The Manatee See.

Margaret’s sister Joan and her husband Phil live at the end of an canal off the Indian River which is an inland extension of the Atlantic Ocean. Sitting in the kitchen this afternoon, I looked out the window and saw a rather unusual looking object floating in the water. Says Phil… "Oh, that’s just a Manatee”. JUST a manatee??? It seems that the sight of Manatees floating lazily in secluded inlets is rather common in these parts... thus the somewhat blasé comment from Phil. Well, to this Okie by way of California, a blasé observation wasn’t acceptable. A quick grab of the binoculars and camera and I had an up close and personal with what turned out to be a whole family... momma, papa and baby providing a local version of Sea World right in our back yard. Is a visit from Shamu next? Unfortunately, Margaret missed the whole thing. See what happens when you go shopping? Not quite the same experience for her, looking at the pictures later.
